Our Co-operative Drawings

On Tuesday we got to draw a picture together. It was a picture of an animal. Each group had one person draw and when the little bell rung it was the next person's turn. Here are some pictures of us sharing our pictures with the class.

Welcome Miss Tasker

We in Room 2 are very excited to have a new person in our class. Her name is Miss Tasker. She is going to be our student teacher till the end of term. It is lovely to have a new teacher in our room. She will be helping Mrs Shead with teaching us and we are sure she is going to learn a lot while she is here.

Today we are doing our oral expression. We are sharing special stories with each other.

Yesterday we learned about shiny, normal and jagged stones. These stand for the way we can feel. Shiny stones are happy things like hugs and special treats. Jagged stones are things that makes us feel unhappy or uncomfortable. We are learning what to do about feeling better. This is part of our citizenship topic work.

We also are excited to have another new person in our class. Her name is Sophie Clapham. She has just turned five. Her brother Jesse is in Room 3.

Writing in Room 2

Today we did some writing as a class. One group learnt to write question sentences using words like how, why and what. Another group learnt about writing sentences using Capital letters at the start and ending them with full stops. Here are some photo's of us working really hard at it.

First Day Back after the 6.3 Shake

Today was our first day back at school after almost two weeks off. Some of us where excited to be back and some of us were a bit nervous. But as Cameron so nicely put it "We got to see Mrs Shead" and that is the best thing.

We have done lots of special things. We had a party and got given party hats, party blowers and party poppers. Jacob brought in some birthday cake and we all got to have a piece. It was yummy!!! Thanks Jacob for turning 6.

Another special thing that happened today was some Reporters from New Zealand Herald came to talk to us. The story is going to be online so make sure you check it out Mums and Dads.

As a class we wrote a whole class story about the earthquake. It was really great to be able to write about our experience. It was especially great to say how we all got to go to the staff room for a milo. We then got to do our favourite thing - READING!

Gosh we have had such a special first day back. The teachers gave us all an ice block for being so brave on Tuesday 22nd of February. We all are remembering to put our bottoms to the windows and that it's ok to be brave and scared at the same time.
