Pirates and Princesses

A Great Crew
What wonderful imaginations have been used for our costumes.

Mrs Meikle was our reliever today and she is a fantastic pirate.

Thank you to everyone who has supported our Deaf Awareness and Earthquake Relief Fund. It is great that we can make contributions to these important causes.

Room 1 has been reading "The Wicked Pirates" and they have been part of a dramatisation this morning. After all everyone was dressed for the part.

Ho, ho and a bottle of water!

Great Reading

Here are a trio of boys who have been working very hard with their reading. The best way to learn to read is to read and then read some more and then read some more and then read some more.....

A trio of superb readers!
The boys are learning to read with expression. They watch carefully for emboldened text and for exclamation marks. Cameron, Jamie and Toby do not read with robot voices - they read with interesting expressive voices.

Well done boys!

Writing about the earthquake

At the earthquake I had a three coloured torch. At home I got to sleep in my dad’s bed. At morning I went to see if people were ok. After the earthquake I felt an aftershock. I went under the table.  I have a blanket under the table. -  Jamie

I was scared. My dad came to pick me up. The ground shook. - Hannah

When the earthquake shakes we have to go under the table. - Prudence

Today there was an earthquake at school. I had to go under my table. It was scary. - Toby

We have to go under the table. We are afraid. The earthquake moved from side to side.  - Jacob

The earthquake made cracks in my house. I slept though it. We had a welcome back party. I was scared when it hit New Zealand. The earthquake made cracks in the road. We felt an aftershock. -  Cameron.

My dad’s truck is smashed. We are all safe. No-one got hurt. My dad’s car got smashed. - Corban

The earthquake was really scary in my house. So I got under the table. Then I got out from under the table. - Laura

I was asleep. I heard the rumble. Me and Shaniqua were in Hamner Springs. I have 2 cracks in my house. - Cyriss

I like earthquakes. They shake. - Casey

Maths for Super Hereos!

Smiling Superheros

Estimating using teddy bears.

What a wonderful group of superheroes we have today!

Maths is such an important skill for the superheroes of today. Counting backwards and estimations are great skills to learn. Then we will know how many tall buildings we have leapt over and how many more we still have to go.

The Spidermen League
No villains are safe.

Welcome to our Blog!

What a wonderful world we live in! We are learning to use this technology so that we can keep you informed of the happenings in Room 1. This will give parents/caregivers the chance to see what is happening in class and then you will be able to talk about it with your child.

I look forward to any comments as we learn to use our blog.
